Interestingly, the strength of the inverse association that was observed between GATA-3 and basal-like markers – namely, CK5, CK14, vimentin, EGFR and P-cadherin – suggests that GATA-3 can be important for the differentiation state of the malignant cells, where its presence, together with other differentiation involved partners, may drive the luminal profile of a malignant cell population within the tumour. Here, GATA3 is linked to neoplasm.
