Nucleostemin (guanine nucleotide binding protein-like 3, Gnl3) encodes a nucleolar GTP-binding protein highly enriched in stem cells and cancer cells [1-5], including embryonic stem cells [1,2], neural stem cells [1,2,4], and cancer stem cells [1,5], but not in most terminally differentiated cells [6]. This evidence concerns the gene GNL3 and cancer.
