Interestingly, down-regulation of SRPK1 using small interfering RNA (siRNA) affects the expression of key apoptotic factors BAX and BCL2, increases the proportion of the tumor cells (but not of nontrasformed cells) undergoing apoptosis and amplifies their sensitivity to two commonly used chemotherapeutic agents such as gemcitabine and cisplatin. Here, SRPK1 is linked to neoplasm.
