Further, indirect support for the hypothesis that most lipomas with 6p21 or 13q-rearrangements develop through pathways that do not involve HMGA2 could be found among the lipomas that showed aberrations that do not belong to any of the known cytogenetic subgroups of conventional lipomas; four of five showed aberrant (log10 ratio 1.80–2.17) expression of the 5'part or of the entire gene. Here, HMGA2 is linked to lipoma.
