These findings are consistent with the observation that a number of growth factor genes (FGF, PDGF, VEGF) are upregulated in infected fibroblasts at 24 hours post-infection and that 'cellular proliferation' features as one of the overrepresented GO terms for upregulated genes in T. cruzi-infected HFF, HMVEC and VSMC.
