EGFR and breast carcinoma: Studies using cDNA microarrays and immunohistochemical (IHC) markers [2-6] have classified breast cancers into five distinct subtypes: luminal A (estrogen receptor (ER) positive and/or progesterone receptor (PR) positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (Her2) negative), luminal B (ER positive and/or PR positive, Her2 positive), Her2 overexpressing (ER negative, PR negative, Her2 positive), basal-like (ER negative, PR negative, Her2 negative, cytokeratin (CK) 5/6 positive and/or epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) positive) and normal breast-like tumors.
