A long-held medical goal of cancer therapy is the discovery of small drug-like molecules able to rescue cancerous p53 mutants (Bullock and Fersht, 2001; Wang, Rastinejad, and El-Deiry, 2003; Bykov, Selivanova, and Kilman, 2003; Baroni et al. 2004; Brachmann, 2004). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and cancer.
