ApoE binds heparin and proteoglycans with very high affinity and inhibits proliferation of several cell types such as: endothelial cells, lymphocytes, smooth muscle cells, and several types of tumour cells (Cardin et al, 1988; Ji et al, 1993; Browning et al, 1994; Vogel et al, 1994; Ishigami et al, 1998). This evidence concerns the gene APOE and neoplasm.
