Analyzing two different cell lines, 39M1-81 fibroblasts and 1321N1 glioma cells, we show that the thrombin induced signaling cascade is independent of EGF receptor transactivation and rather relies on the activation of PKC to connect the increase of the intracellular Ca2+-concentration with the ERK signaling cascade. The gene discussed is PRRT2; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
