Many proteins responsible for fission and fusion such as Dynamin-related protein-1 (DRP1), Mitofusin-1 and Mitofusin-2 (Mnf1, Mnf2), OPA1 – have been identified [90–93], as being involved in cancer or apoptosis, during mitochondrial mobility changes by disrupting cytoskeletal architecture and in some other human pathologies. The gene discussed is DNM1L; the disease is cancer.
