Hyperinsulinaemia has been linked to ventricular hypertrophy in obesity directly via the binding of insulin to myocardial insulin-like growth factor 1 receptors.[34] In this study, although insulin was seen to be a related to left ventricular mass on simple linear regression, it was not seen to be an independent predictor of left ventricular mass on multiple regression analysis. Here, IGF1R is linked to cardiac hypertrophy.
