Based on our preliminary observations that liver CD11c+NK1.1− DC from Pb γ-spz immunized mice were able to activate CD8+ T cells both in vitro and in vivo (data not shown), we hypothesized that adoptive transfer of these DC into naïve mice might confer protection or at least reduce the level of parasitemia in sporozoite-challenged recipients.
