Vaccination, however, abolished this biphasic pattern due to decreased expression, especially on days 8 and 11 p.i. By contrast, C-reactive protein (CRP) and the CXC chemokine ligand CXCL10 were activated only in the early phase of precrisis, i.e. on days 1 and 4 p.i., and their induction by infection was largely prevented by vaccination. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is infection.
