As compared with the markers used previously, it possesses increased sensitivity for detecting ovarian cancer, especially the stage I disease (Havrilesky et al, 2008; Moore et al, 2008a), whereas the HE4 encoding gene WFDC2 is expressed particularly in serous and endometrioid ovarian cancer (Drapkin et al, 2005; Galgano et al, 2006). This evidence concerns the gene WFDC2 and ovarian cancer.
