Mipu1 is a novel gene that was found to be up-regulated in rat heart after a transient myocardial ischemia-reperfusion procedure by Yuan et al. Further bioinformatics analysis indicated that the Mipu1 gene was composed of five exons and four introns with an open reading frame of 1827 bp and mapped to chromosome 1q12.1, encoding a 608 amino acid polypeptide with an N-terminal KRAB domain and 14 C-terminal C2H2 zinc fingers. Here, ZNF667 is linked to myocardial ischemia.
