ADIPOQ and neoplasm: The aggressive phenotypes of tumor cells derived from PyVT(+/−)/ADN(+/−) mice are retained during serial trans-implantations in nude mice as well as multiple passages in culture (Figure 5), suggesting that insufficient adiponectin production from adipose tissue might result in an abnormal microenvironment that leads to distinct but permanent genetic and phenotypic modifications of mammary epithelial cells.
