A plausible explanation is that an elevated mGPS may reflect compromised cell-mediated immunity as C-reactive protein is associated with lymphopenia (Nozoe et al, 2000; Leitch et al, 2007) and an impaired T-lymphocytic response (Canna et al, 2005) in patients with colorectal tumours. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is colorectal neoplasm.
