In a murine model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, SOD1(G93A) mice), memantine treatment (10 mg/kg b.i.d. s.c. starting on postnatal day 70 until end point) caused a significant, but very moderate delay in disease progression and also moderately increased the life span [283]. Here, SOD1 is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
