Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are Zn2+ and Ca2+ dependent endopeptidases which participate in a significant manner in several aspects of host immune responses such as granuloma formation, matrix remodeling, lymphocytes trafficking and infiltrations, inflammation etc. Among MMPs, MMP-9 is expressed at various clinical categories of tuberculosis disease like active cavitary tuberculosis [3]–[4], meningitis [5]–[6] and pleuritis [7]. This evidence concerns the gene MMP9 and tuberculosis.
