A number of studies however have shown that TLR4 Asp299Gly is associated with a variety of infectious diseases, including septic shock [13], RSV [14], Legionnaires' disease [15] and malaria [16], but is not associated with others, such as tuberculosis [17] or meningococcal disease [18] (see table 1).
