Aside from its classical roles, many new functions of MT1-MMP were recently demonstrated, including a role in PGE2-induced angiogenesis [23], platelet-mediated calcium mobilization [24], regulation of cell death/survival bioswitch [22,25], and radioresistance in both glioma cells [26,27] and endothelial cells [28].
