INS and Hypertension: Adiponectin has been causally linked to insulin sensitivity, and possesses anti-inflammatory properties.34,35 Clinically, there is evidence that adiponectin is associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia, and hypertension.2–5,10 In light of this evidence, the absence of an association between plasma adiponectin level and myocardial infarction that was observed in prospective studies, including ours, is surprising.
