The Cox Proportional Hazard model, using 5 covariates, found the development of liver cirrhosis within 3 years of initial IFN therapy (Hazard Ratio: 3.39; 95% CI: 0.88–5.09; P = 0.05), and the 3 year annual average ALT activity, post initial IFN therapy (Hazard Ratio: 2.24; 95% CI: 1.07–4.71; P = 0.033), significantly related to HCC occurrence (Table 3). Here, IFNA1 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
