These over-representations were not as widespread as for E2Fs or ER, which suggests that they play only a minor role, but different cancer types and conditions were included: an EGR1 motif was found to be over-represented in CNS and colorectal cancers and the β-catenin multi-cancer prognostic signatures, the breast cancer lung metastasis signature and the predictive signatures of cisplatin and dasatinib (FDR-adjusted P values<0.05) (Fig. 2E). The gene discussed is EGR1; the disease is colorectal cancer.
