Consistent with the live-cell imaging showing no necessary participation of EGFP-LC3 in the destruction of the pathogen and the initiation of necrosis, no evidence was seen for fusion of T. gondii-containing vacuoles with lysosomes, assayed by association with LAMP1, in IFNγ-induced MEFs at any time-point after infection, as we reported earlier [17] and in contrast to the observations of Ling et al [19] (Fig S2).
