HLA-A and breast carcinoma: Gopalkrishnan et al. [36], in a group of women from India, evaluated low- or intermediate-resolution gene expression of HLA-A,-B, and -C, finding the following two alleles as candidates for markers associated in risk modulation for breast cancer in Eastern Indian women: Alleles HLA-B*40 and -B*08, the first as a factor for early development of the disease, presenting in 16% of cases vs. 9.0% of controls (OR, 2.2; 95% CI, 1.15 – 4.34; p = 0.02), and the second, found to be a protector.
