There was not a statistically significant difference in the number of GAD67, CR and PV positive cells in long-term MD rats versus control, while the number of CB positive cells was reduced by MD in both hemispheres (contra, MD 86.90±4.62 cells/mm2 versus control 124.47±12.03 cells/mm2; t test, P = 0.005; ipsi, MD 82.34±5.39 cells/mm2 versus control 117.23±15.22 cells/mm2; t test, P = 0.019, N = 10). This evidence concerns the gene GAD1 and Menkes disease.
