CYP51A1 and trypanosomiasis: We explored sterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51) as a potential target for trypanosomiasis chemotherapy by probing CYP51Mt, CYP51Tc, and CYP51Tc with second generation compounds that contain a universal building block, the N-[4-pyridyl]-formamide moiety, which is capable of delivering small molecule compounds to the CYP51 active site.
