In contrast, when wt HCMV infection was performed in the presence of maribavir or when UL97 was ablated genetically (two independent isolates of a UL97 deletion mutant), the anti-lamin staining of the nuclear rim resembled that of mock-infected cells with oval shaped nuclei and little or no thinning and few or no gaps (Figure 5C and 5D). This evidence concerns the gene LMNA and cytomegalovirus infection.
