These included: GABRG3 (rs968671) which showed association with BMI-related traits and hypertension and is located in a cluster of GABA receptor subunits, notable for the role of GABA signaling in sympathetic vasomotor tone; RAPGEF1 (rs7034356, rs4740294), an exchange factor involved in cell signaling, was associated with BMI-related traits; PIGU (rs2889849), a subunit of glycosylphosphatidylinositol transamidase, was associated with lipid- and BMI-related traits; and SPAG16 (rs10498015), a sperm-associated protein, was associated with height, weight and lipid-traits (Table 3).
