Some processes relevant to diabetic retinopathy were found upregulated in diabetic aqueous samples including CD40, C reactive protein, erythropoietin, fatty acid binding protein, FGF basic, fibrinogen, IL-1ra, IL-8, leptin, macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC), MMP-2, and VEGF [17,18]. This evidence concerns the gene CD40 and diabetic retinopathy.
