For the TOX3 gene, which has been shown to be associated with an increased risk for breast cancer in published case control studies, the rare allele homozygotes of rs1420542 (TT; n = 41) and heterozygotes (TA; n = 223) showed a 2.1-fold and 1.6-fold risk for distant metastases, respectively, compared with common allele homozygotes. This evidence concerns the gene TOX3 and breast carcinoma.
