Th1 type cells preferentially express CXCR3 and CCR5, and the infiltrating T cells in COPD express high levels of CXCR3 and CCR5, but not of CCR4 and CCR8 that are preferentially expressed by Th2 cells [2,11,12]. The gene discussed is CXCR3; the disease is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
