Investigators at M.D. Anderson 6 and the University of Carolina 7 independently examined chemosensitivity in basal-like breast cancers, which are also known by the clinical proxy “triple negative” (er−, pr−, her2/neu-negative) 8 Clinical response to neoadjuvant doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide was significantly higher among basal-like (86%) than among non-basal-like (her2 68%, luminal 60%) breast cancers. Here, ERBB2 is linked to breast cancer.
