Interestingly, in spite of the well-documented role of IL-13 as a central mediator of allergic asthma [44], production of Th2 cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13) was similar in HDM re-stimulated lung cell cultures from A/J and C3H mice, while production of IFNγ was induced only in lung cell cultures from C3H mice (Figure 1b). This evidence concerns the gene IL5 and allergic asthma.
