Therefore, it seems that the p53/p73/PTEN pathways are not very active in these cells, consistent with the epigenetic suppression commonly observed for these genes in prostate cancer, whereas Egr1 does induce the expression of pro-apoptotic genes, such as TNFSF6, which are responsible for its apoptotic response in these cells.
