The soluble decoy receptor, aflibercept (VEGF Trap), a fusion protein containing the VEGF-binding domains of both VEGFR-1 and -2 linked through the Fc region of human IgG1, is also under investigation as a single agent in relapsed platinum-resistant ovarian cancer with a response rate of 8% and acceptable toxicity being reported at a pooled interim analysis of a phase II study of two different dosing regimens (Tew et al, 2007). Here, VEGFA is linked to ovarian carcinoma.
