ETS1 and cancer: Three genes are known to be regulated by ETS-1, MCP-1 (monocyte chemoattractant protein-1), which has growth promoting effects (reviewed in [50]); p16INK4A cyclin-dependent kinase, which is directly activated by ETS-1 and involved in replicative senescence; and PAI-1 (plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1), which is considered a major regulator of tumor invasion and metastasis and of cancer-related angiogenesis [51].
