The early diminished neutrophil recruitment was accompanied by reduced levels of the CXC chemokines KC and MIP-2, but unaltered early LIX levels, suggesting that MyD88 deficiency at least in part diminishes neutrophil influx during pneumonia derived melioidosis due to an attenuated production of CXC chemokines at the primary site of the infection. This evidence concerns the gene CALCA and pneumonia.
