Our results (Figure 1) also show that the effects of maternal protein malnutrition during prenatal and suckling periods on glucose homeostasis of F1 and F2 offspring are consistent with previous studies where offspring were weaned onto adequate (control) diets: normal insulin sensitivity in F1 animals [4,5], and hyperinsulinemia/insulin resistance in F2 animals [2,3]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and malnutrition.
