The role of VEGF in cervical carcinogenesis has been studied and it is established that the VEGF expression has been related to microvascular density (MVD) in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and invasive carcinomas, suggesting that VEGF is an early marker of cervical carcinogenesis, with linearly increasing expression starting from low grade CIN [4]. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.
