The genes affected by the minimum common region of deletion, and therefore candidates, are CLN8, C8orf61, has-mir-596 and ARHGEF10. ARHGEF10 has emerged as a candidate colorectal cancer gene in the sequencing screen carried out by Wood et al. [56], and, in conjunction with our discovery of a heterozygous deletion of ARHGEF10 in DU4475 with mutation of the remaining copy, this makes it a strong candidate for the 8p23.3 tumour suppressor. Here, CLN8 is linked to colorectal cancer.
