Preclinical data, as well as the great efficacy of antiangiogenic therapies targeting VEGFR and PDGFR such as sorafenib and sunitinib in renal cell cancer (Faivre et al, 2006b, 2007; Escudier et al, 2007; Motzer et al, 2007b), suggested that mTORC1 inhibitors may also have antiangiogenic properties in renal cell cancer. The gene discussed is KDR; the disease is renal cell adenocarcinoma.
