PPARA and neoplasm: All thewild-type mice fed with 0.1% Wy-14643 diet for 11 months had multiplehepatocellular neoplasms, including adenomas and carcinomas, while thePPARα-nullmice fed with the 0.1% Wy-14643 diet for the same duration were unaffected.Ward et al. [47] reported thatexposure for only six months to 12 000 ppm DEHP caused induction of peroxisomalenzymes, liver enlargement, and histopathological increases in eosinophilcounts and peroxisomes in the cytoplasm of wild-type mice, while there were nosuch toxic findings in the liver of PPARα-nullmice.
