To determine whether the choice of histologically normal controls could lead to discordance or misinterpretation of specific pathological conditions such as chronic hepatitis C, we measured one (IL8) of the eight perfectly discriminating genes in five series of various grades of necroinflammation and stages of liver fibrosis (A1F1, A2F1, A1F2, A2F2, A2F3). This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and Hepatic fibrosis.
