Additional evidence of the existence of putative CPE sequences within the 3’-UTR of the octopus lens S1-crystallin mRNA and mutated optineurin (OPTN) genes of wide-angle glaucoma patients suggests that CPEB-CPE regulation may play a role in gene expression of some crystallins and other proteins of the eye [34,35]. This evidence concerns the gene OPTN and open-angle glaucoma.
