In this issue of PLoS Biology, Wang et al. [6] investigate the basis for the formation of nonamyloid, fibrillar aggregates by Cu/Zn-superoxide dismutase (SOD1) in another neurodegenerative disease: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig disease. This evidence concerns the gene SOD1 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
