Increased pre-operative serum levels of CEA and CA 19-9 have been already shown to correlate with shorter disease free and overall survival [8-12] It has been also previously reported that higher serum levels of CATB [51,53,55] and plasma levels of PAI-1 [54] are correlated with advanced tumor stage and shorter survival in CRC. The gene discussed is SERPINE1; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
