For example; protein kinase C, epsilon (PKCε) and its signalling pathways have been implicated in primary afferent nociceptor sensitization (Khasar et al., 1999) and it is considered an important contributor to the development of painful diabetic neuropathy (Ahlgren and Levine, 1994), taxol-induced painful peripheral neuropathy (Dina et al., 2001b), painful alcoholic neuropathy (Dina et al., 2000, Dina et al., 2006), and inflammatory hyperalgesia (Khasar et al., 1999, Aley et al., 2000, Dina et al., 2001a, Parada et al., 2005). Here, PRKCE is linked to diabetic neuropathy.
