We have characterized a model of HIV-related neuropathy, termed gp120 + ddC (Wallace et al., 2007b), which combines perineural administration of the HIV-1 coat protein, glycoprotein 120 (gp120), with systemic treatment with the nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, 2′, 3′-dideoxycytidine (ddC/Zalcitabine). Here, ITIH4 is linked to neuropathy.
