Following the identification, in 1995 and 1996, of the first three LQTS genes associated with the most frequently encountered LQTS variants called respectively LQT1, LQT2, and LQT3, there has been a flourishing of identifications of genes proven or just thought to be associated with LQTS [28-30]. Here, KCNQ1 is linked to familial long QT syndrome.
